IACP Reflections
The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals grew out of a need, by the late 1990's, for an umbrella organization to serve the rapidly expanding Collaborative movement. In 2000 the "IACP" included 16 Collaborative practice groups and about 100 members from the U.S. and Canada looking to share their experiences and learn from each other. The Collaborative movement has expanded in leaps and bounds over the past 7 years. Today IACP’s membership includes over 200 practice groups and over 2,000 individuals from the United States, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
Each year since 2000, the IACP has organized an international networking forum and each year attendance has expanded. The scope of the annual forum now includes education, inspiration, dialogue, and opportunities for member feedback on important IACP initiatives such as an International Public Education campaign and Standards for practitioners.
Many "movers and shakers" in the Collaborative movement have left their mark on Collaborative Practice through their involvement with the IACP. Collaborative Practice Toronto will be focusing on the evolution of Collaborative Practice and the IACP, featuring personal stories from founding members.
