CPT has three membership categories: Member, Associate Member and Student Member

Becoming a "Member" - $285.00

A Member must:

  1. if a lawyer, be a member in good standing of The Law Society of Upper Canada;
  2. if an other professional, be a member in good standing of a professional regulatory body as established by the board;
  3. have completed 5 days (2 days of Process Level I and 3-days of Skills Level II) of approved Collaborative Training;
  4. subscribe to the principles of collaborative practice; and
  5. be fully paid-up with respect to fees.

  • eligible to run for Board of Directors (By–Law 3)
  • can vote in elections/general meetings

Becoming an "Associate Member" - $185.00

An Associate Member must:

  1. subscribe to the principles of collaborative practice; and
  2. be fully paid-up with respect to fees.

  • can vote in elections/general meetings

Becoming a "Student Member" - $25.00

A student Member must:

  1. be a student enrolled in a post-secondary educational institute;
  2. subscribe to the principles of collaborative practice; and
  3. be fully paid-up with respect to fees.

Benefits

  • same benefits as an Associate Member

Definition of Professional Regulatory Body (PRB):

A “body” is professional and regulatory if it:

  • has a subject-matter that relates to collaborative practice
  • sets entry and training requirements
  • sets standards of practice
  • registers qualified applicants
  • has a complaints process
  • disciplines its members
  • requires its members to carry professional liability insurance
  • is Ontario-based or Canada-wide so that it has jurisdiction over members who practice in Ontario.

The following is a list of CPT Approved PRB’S:

  • Law Society of Upper Canada
  • Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO)
  • Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO)
  • Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB)
  • Canadian General Accountants of Ontario
  • Canadian Institute of Actuaries
  • the Ontario Association for Family Mediation (OAFM), and Family Mediation Canada (FMC), and Alternative Dispute Resolution Institution of Ontario (ADRIO), provided that the professional is accredited, has a post-secondary degree or diploma, and has professional liability insurance.

  2. Fill out the form (keep a copy for yourself).
